Mary I (Bloody Mary)

Information: Mary I became the Queen fo England in 1553 when she was 37 years old. She was a devoted Catholic who reigned for only 5 years. She changed many laws in England and she also ordered a battle with the French. The battle was lost and many English people lost land that they previously owned. Shee died at 42 year old of a tumor in her stomach.

Was she a good Queen?
No. Mary I wanted the Catholic Church to be the main religion of England. She ordered the death of any perso who did not wish to convert to the Catholic religion. Over 5 years she burned more thatn 300 people at the stake. Her nick name came from thi fact that she killed so many people.

Interesting Facts
Mary I only ever saw her husband twice during their married life. Once was for a year when he came over from Spain for the marriage. The second time two years later for lonly two months.
